Starting treatment at the right time can reduce the need for more extensive procedures later and set the foundation for a lifetime of confident smiles.
At Happy Braces Orthodontics, we believe that the best time to guide a healthy smile is early on. That’s why we offer Early Orthodontic Treatment—an important step in identifying and addressing dental and jaw issues while a child’s mouth is still growing.
Why Choose Clear Aligners?

Guides Proper Jaw Growth
Early treatment can help guide the growth of your child’s jaw to ensure there’s enough room for incoming adult teeth

Prevents Serious Issues
By addressing alignment or bite concerns early, we can often prevent more complex orthodontic problems from developing later.

Corrects Harmful Habits
Thumb-sucking, tongue thrusting, or mouth breathing can impact facial development. Early appliances can help break these habits gently and effectively.

Improves Facial Balance
Early orthodontics can support proper facial symmetry, especially in cases where the upper or lower jaws are developing unevenly.

Boosts Confidence
Improving your child’s smile early can give them a boost in self-esteem during their formative years—when it matters most.
What to Expect During Treatment

Personalized Consultation
Dr. Babak Yousefi will perform a full exam of your child’s teeth, jaw, and facial growth. Using digital imaging, we’ll evaluate whether early intervention is recommended.

Customized Treatment Plan
If needed, we’ll create a personalized plan that may include expanders, limited braces, habit appliances, or space maintainers. We’ll walk you through every step and answer all your questions.

Gentle, Monitored Progress
Treatment is closely monitored as your child’s mouth develops. Regular check-ups help us guide progress and make adjustments as needed.

Resting Phase
Once the first phase of treatment is complete, your child will enter a resting phase while the remaining adult teeth come in.

Phase Two
After most or all adult teeth have erupted, we’ll evaluate if a second phase of treatment—usually full braces or clear aligners—is necessary to finish aligning the teeth.
Common Questions About Early Treatment
What age should my child see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial visit by age 7, even if no issues are visible yet
Does early treatment mean braces right away?
Not always. Early treatment is about identifying problems early—some kids won’t need treatment right away, but monitoring growth is still valuable
How long does Phase One treatment take?
It varies based on your child’s needs but usually lasts 9–12 months.
Is early treatment covered by insurance?
Most PPO and HMO dental plans (including Medi-Cal) cover orthodontic evaluations and early treatments. Our team will help you understand your benefits and payment options.
